Dr. Sahana Roy Chowdhury is a Professor of Economics at IMI-Kolkata with more than 15 years of post-doctoral research and teaching experience in economic research and policy. She holds doctorate and M.S. in Quantitative Economics from Indian Statistical Institute. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Studies in Microeconomics
(Sage Publications).
Dr. Roy Chowdhury has the experience of working with the Monetary Research Project Division of ICRA Ltd.
as Economist, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi at the Macro-Finance Division as
consultant. She was a visiting scientist at Cornell University, USA. She delivered invited lectures to the IRS and
IAS trainees on fiscal policy and taxation, and was responsible for providing research inputs to the
Expenditure Management Commission formed by the Ministry of Finance-Department of Economic Affairs.
She served as an expert panellist in the research meeting on Employability organized by the Centre for Policy
Research in Higher Education, New Delhi (Department of Educational Finance, GOI).
Dr. Roy Chowdhury taught several academic courses such as Macroeconomics, Fiscal Policy,
Business Forecasting, International Business to the masters and Ph.D. level students at IMI-Kolkata,
IMI-Delhi, Presidency University, Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi, Université Gustave Eiffel, Paris etc.,
and taught customized management development courses to the mid-senior level managers and young
executives of EXIDE, PCBL, CESC etc.
