Area Wise Faculty: Finance

Dr. Mohit Pathak is an Assistant Professor of Finance and Accounting at IMI-Kolkata, where he teaches courses ranging from Financial Accounting and Cost Management to Advanced Research in Accounting at the doctoral level. Prior to joining IMI-K in May 2024, he served as Programme Director and Assistant Professor at RV University’s School of Business in Bengaluru, overseeing the B.Com (H) curriculum and instructing undergraduates in topics such as Financial Statement Analysis and Corporate Finance. He earned his Ph.D. from Symbiosis International Deemed University in 2023 after completing his M.Com and B.Com at the University of Lucknow. Dr. Pathak is also UGC-NET qualified. His research interests include corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, ESG disclosure practices by corporations, and emerging trends in the area of finance and accounting. He has also presented research papers at several national and international conferences and published research articles in several reputed journals listed/indexed in Scopus, ABDC, ABS, WoS etc.

Dr. Sayantan Kundu is an Assistant Professor of finance at the International Management Institute, Kolkata. After graduating in Computer Engineering, he worked for Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. He obtained his MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2008 and thereafter worked in Wipro Technologies and IBM India as an ERP consultant. Sayantan has four years of experience in IT consulting. He is a fellow of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (PhD) in the area of Finance and Control with minors in Operations. Post PhD, Sayantan taught at Calcutta Business School, Indian Institute of Management Ranchi, Xavier Business School Kolkata, and Praxis Business School before joining IMI Kolkata. He has a total of 8 years of teaching experience. His research interests lie in Capital Markets, Asset Pricing, Corporate Finance, Decision Sciences, and Risk Management. Sayantan has published more than fourteen research papers in reputed international journals. He teaches Portfolio Management, Mergers and Acquisitions, Financial Modelling and Analytics, Investment Banking, and Wealth Management and Alternative Investments at IMI Kolkata. Earlier, he taught Derivatives, Financial Risk Management and Financial Econometrics at IIM Ranchi and Project Management and Finance at Praxis Business School. He also conducted Management Development Programmes at IIM Ranchi and IMI Kolkata and Faculty Development Programs at Praxis Business School and IMI Kolkata

Dr. Arunava Bandyopadhyay is an Assistant Professor of Finance at IMI Kolkata. He holds a Ph.D. and an Executive MBA in Finance from the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur. Before joining IMI Kolkata, he served at Jindal Global Business School, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, and as a visiting faculty at IIFT Kolkata, where he taught FinTech.
Dr. Bandyopadhyay brings 7 years of corporate experience with Siemens Ltd. and Phillips Carbon Black Ltd. His teaching interests include Financial Modelling and Analytics, FinTech, Financial Risk Management and Applied Econometrics. He actively engages in research, executive education, faculty development programs, and consulting activities, particularly in thought leadership areas of digital transformation and sustainability. Dr. Bandyopadhyay has also contributed to research funded by the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. (MCX).

Surendra  has more than 20 years of experience in academics and industry . He has worked in the corporate with Reckitt Benckiser and Career Launcher . He has also had a brief stint as an entrepreneur before he moved to academics .Surendra is passionate about equity markets and has been a student and teacher of equity markets for the last 25 years.

He is actively involved in conceptualising and designing industry –academia programmes . He was instrumental in launching the PGPMI ( Post Graduate Programme in Management and Insurance) with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co . He is also currently the Programme Director of PGCFM ( Post Graduate Certificate programme in Financial markets ) offered jointly with NSE India . His research and teaching interests are equity analysis and valuation , Financial derivatives , behavioural finance , financial modelling

Chanchal has B Com (Hons) and M Com degrees from The University of Burdwan and stood first with a first class at both the levels and received two Gold Medals. He earned his PhD from The University of Burdwan in Financial Restructuring through Buyback of Shares, for which he received the Best Research Award in Finance Track in the Doctoral Colloquium from IIM Ahmedabad. Chanchal has a received several prestigious awards for his academic and research excellence. He has published several research papers in reputed journals. He has also presented papers in global conferences in India and abroad. His areas of interest include Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Earnings Management, ESG & Readability of Financial Reports.
