IMI Kolkata has been delivering excellent educational services to its students over the years. The institute has extended its hands to give back to the society through its CSR activities. The institute aims to foster the development of the society and community at a large through various initiatives.

“Udaan – Wings of Dreams” (Confero 13.0)
As a part of the inaugural ceremony of Confero 13.0, The Altruist club organized a special event titled “Udaan – Wings of Dreams” on March 1st, 2025, in collaboration with Save the Children Home, an NGO dedicated to the welfare of Underprivileged children.
The event made those children to showcase their talent in front of many audiences. By actively engaging with the NGO, the participants reinforced the power of collective action, highlighting how with their performance can create lasting change and inspire a deeper commitment to social responsibility. The experience underscored the importance of empathy and hands-on involvement in making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Goonj Visit
The members of the Altruist club went to Goonj NGO to visit the members of the NGO on 21st January 2025. The visit was a cheerful and success as the members of the visit were happy and were interacting with the members of club in positive manner.
The visit to Goonj had a profound impact on underprivileged communities, as essential clothes were distributed to provide warmth and comfort during the cold season. This thoughtful initiative not only supported those in immediate need but also embodied the spirit of compassion and solidarity. By actively engaging with the NGO, the participants reinforced the power of collective action, highlighting how small acts of kindness can create lasting change and inspire a deeper commitment to social responsibility. The experience underscored the importance of empathy and hands-on involvement in making a positive impact on the lives of others.


Blanket Donation Drive – 2024
The Altruist club organized a blanket donation drive on 29th December 2024 which was a success where 50 blankets were purchased and was distributed to the needy ones in a effective and efficient manner.
The Blanket Donation Drive brought warmth and comfort to underprivileged communities by providing essential support during the cold season. This thoughtful initiative exemplified the spirit of compassion and collective responsibility, leaving a meaningful impact on those in need and reinforcing the importance of helping others.
Christmas Donation Drive
The club organized a drive to collect items from 2nd Dec – 22nd Dec 2024. The drive was a success where 97+ kgs weight of clothes was been collected with the help of IMIK community and distributed efficiently to the housekeeping staff members of IMI Kolkata. Christmas donation Drive was organised on 24 December 2024.
The Christmas Donation Drive brought comfort and care to underprivileged communities by distributing essential clothing to those in need. This meaningful initiative emphasized the importance of helping others and created a positive impact by fostering compassion and social responsibility.


Fund Raising Event
The Altruist club organized a Fund-Raising Event on 23 December 2024 in collaboration with Cultural Committee. The Event was success where we collected more than 16000/- from IMIK student community, faculty and staffs with the purpose of distributing blankets to the poor and needy ones.
The fundraising event made a significant impact by channelling the collected funds into purchasing blankets for underprivileged individuals, providing them with much-needed warmth and comfort. This event demonstrated how small contributions can bring meaningful change to countless lives.
Diwali Outreach Initiative
The Altruist club organized a Diwali Outreach Initiative on 31st October 2024 where Club distributed sweet boxes to the poor & needy ones. The initiative was a success as the ones who received the sweet boxes were happy to receive them.
The Diwali Outreach Initiative brought joy and warmth to underprivileged communities by distributing sweet boxes to spread festive cheer. This thoughtful effort highlighted the essence of giving and created a positive impact by fostering compassion and social responsibility during the festival of lights.


Blood Donation Drive
The Altruist club organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with People’s Blood Bank on 27th September 2024. The camp was a success, with 45 units of blood collected from students, faculty, and staff.
The event contributed to the local healthcare system by providing a critical supply of blood. It also raised awareness about the importance of blood donation and fostered a sense of compassion and empathy among the participants.
Installation of sanitary napkin vending machine in rural school
IMI Kolkata has taken a significant step under its social responsibility initiative by installing sanitary napkin vending machines and distributing sanitary kits in rural schools of Bardhaman. The purpose of this drive is to raise menstrual hygiene awareness through the ‘Stay-Free: Celebration of Freedom, Period!’ program. This initiative underscores the importance of menstrual health education and aims to empower young girls with the resources and knowledge to manage their periods safely and hygienically, fostering a supportive and stigma-free environment.


Reuse Revolution
The Altruist club organized a drive to collect recyclable items for a duration of a week, 5th-12th July 2024, including clothes, footwear, and bags, from the IMI-K community. Around 40 kgs of items were collected and the collected items were later donated to Goonj NGO on 5th August 2024.
The event contributed to resource conservation and sustainable consumption. It also raised awareness about the importance of reducing waste and the positive impact of recycling. It also fostered a sense of community and social responsibility among the participants.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
Clean India drive undertaken monthly at a local (Majerhat) Railway Station by IMI Kolkata students.
Mr. Kumar Harshwardhan, Chief Health Inspector, joined us explaining the students about the importance of social well-being and proper disposal of waste creating a positive impact on our community and demonstrated the power of collective action for a cleaner, greener India.


E-waste collection
The student club conserve2preserve is responsible for initiating an annual e-waste collection drive to support potential recycling by recognised societies/organisations working in the domain. In this year 198.2 kg of e-waste was collected and handed over to hulladeck for sustainable disposal and use.
Christmas Donation Drive – 2023
On December 20, 2023, team Altruist, the Social Responsibility club of IMI Kolkata, organized a Christmas donation drive for staff members and collaborated with NGO Goonj to collect and distribute clothes. The initiative aimed to connect and bring smiles to faces, highlighting the true spirit of Christmas.


Sit and Draw competition on Anti Child Labor Day
On June 11, 2023, team Altruist organizes an art competition for underprivileged children in our community on Anti-Child Labor Day at Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Varanasi respectively. We’re organizing a sit-and-draw competition for these underprivileged children and creating a social awareness program around them about hygienic issues and other issues.
Old Aged Home Visit
The Altruist Team visited an old age home and spend some time with the grandparents residing at the old age home on March 26, 2023. We had great conversations with them and played games along with musical activities.


Scrap Donation Drive
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” We are pleased to inform you that our Scrap Collection Drive (February 16, 2023) was a great success, and we would like to thank everyone for their generous donations, which helped make this drive a success.
Cloth Donation Drive
Team Altruist organized a Cloth Donation Drive on December 23, 2022 at IMI Kolkata Campus. The event was a huge success with 50+ student donations from IMI-K students as well as some of our esteemed faculty members donated for this cause. The initiative was to contribute to a social cause and the collection was successful as it was a good contribution from students and management.


Computer Donation Drive at Chunakhali Hatkhola, F.P. School
IMI Kolkata took the initiative to make the students equipped with computers to foster digital learning. The institute donated three computers to Chunakhali Hatkhola, F.P. School on 26th of September, 2022. Dr.Tinu Jain, Assistant Professor (Marketing), IMI Kolkata encouraged the students to become digitally aware and future-ready to reach greater heights. He along with his team from IMI Kolkata also helped the students to familiarise themselves with the computer systems and kick start their digital knowledge pathway.
Stem Cell Donation
This Independence Day, 2022, the students of IMI Kolkata celebrated a true “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” with a stem cell donation drive. Organised by the Altruist Club of IMI Kolkata, in association with the DKMS-BMST Foundation, the drive was aimed at raising awareness about blood cancer and collecting swab samples. The drive came to fruition with over 50 students of IMI Kolkata pledging to help the ones in need, whenever required.


Blanket Donation Drive – 2021
Every year, the cold winter season of India comes around as a nightmare to millions of people across the country. The less fortunate ones, who do not get the privilege of great protection against these extreme winters, often have to face problems that range from serious illnesses to casualties! To help ease out the situation, the students of the Altruist Club of IMI Kolkata conducted a blanket donation drive titled “Share the Warmth”. The drive was conducted in two major cities of India, Kolkata and New Delhi on the 9th and 12th of December, 2021 respectively. The drive witnessed the giveaway of over 30 blankets and a ton of generous smiles!
