7th December 2018, Kolkata: International Management Institute, Kolkata, organized its annual management and cultural fest Confero 7.0. The word “confero” means bringing thoughts together and that is what IMI Kolkata did with its theme of “Melange: Revisit the Past”. This mega event was entirely student driven and saw active participation from business schools across the country. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kolkata, IMI Delhi and Welingkar institute of Management Mumbai, to name a few, enthusiastically participated in the gamut of events that IMI-K had to offer. The event was sponsored by SBI Yono, MESCAB Cables, INOX, Mintella, The Dragon’s Kitchen, Coca Cola, Centuryply, Ishq, Be Bonnie, Ishq 104.8, Be Bonnie, BSE Institute Limited, The Souled Store, RPSG Group, Tierra di siena, Axis Bank, LandisGyr and Me.

Confero 7.0 commenced at Dr. R.P. Goenka Auditorium with the auspicious lighting of lamp and words of acuity by the esteemed guest, Shri LR Shukla, Minister of State, Department of Youth Services and Sports, Government of West Bengal and a splendid dance performance by the children of Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy, coordinated by the Altruist Club setting the tone for the event. Director of IMI-K, Dr. Arindam Banik welcomed the audience and imbibed in them the importance of participating in these events and being exposed to multidisciplinary activities. Dr. Abhijit Roy, Chairperson – Student Relations, IMI Kolkata, and Dr. Paramita Mukherjee- Dean, Academics, welcomed the audience and stressed on being multifaceted. The annual event was done keeping the theme in mind of revisiting the past.

The event showcased seven management events and six cultural events coupled with many interesting filler events. The teams which stand victorious in the management events bag cash prizes worth Rs. 25000.

The Shopfloor, one of the management event organized by the marketing club of IMI-K, gave a prelude to the retail marketing experience.  The event was specific to the automobile industry. Tradathon, conducted by the Finance Club of IMI-K, examined the financial bent of mind of the participants. Students proved their mettle by scoring the most and securing the first position in this event. . Opstimum 2.0, another management event conducted by the Operations Club of IMI Kolkata tested the optimizing potentials of the candidates. It was a series of highly entertaining, nail-biting rounds and the euphoric team will win whooping cash prizes. RannKaushal 4.0, a football strategic bidding event gave the participants an opportunity to bid for the best players and build their own squad. Prarambh, the business plan challenge organized by Entrepreneurship Club of IMI Kolkata tests the fresh spirit and idea generation of the participants. Crytoquest, an initiative of the Business Club and the Creative & Content Club of IMI Kolkata is dedicated to provide the necessity of creativity and innovations in business through real-life situations and scenarios. Human Hunt, organized by the HR club of Natya, the cultural dance competition brought in the much desired melodious twist to Confero 7.0. A number of colleges participated and added vigour in the entire fest. Navyata, the fashion show saw the dudes and the divas from across the city set the stage to transfix the audience and create an aura of excitement. Nukkad Natak made everyone think about the social problems with a mythical touch.

There were filler events for the creative ones as well as the culinary geeks like Fun out of Junk and Incredible Chef, which examined the participants’ creativity and culinary skills, respectively. Doodling, where the participants have to unleash the hidden artist and show their doodling skills by linear and non-linear strokes.

All the events were conducted in a unique and creative manner, which made the competition impassionate and at the same time entertaining, much to the delight of the participating teams. The ingenuity and creativity that went in designing the format of each event was much applauded and appreciated.

After a grueling yet exciting day of intense of competitions, the students finally let their hair down, dancing to popular music numbers and thoroughly enjoying themselves at the musical performance that followed. Confero 7.0 petered out with the intoxicating performance by Monica Dogra and DJ Girish, who swirled the audience in a state of reverie.
