IMI Kolkata successfully conductedan online FDP on “Advanced Research Methods for Publication in the Top-Tier Journals”. The FDP was conducted from June 9 – 12, 2021 via online platforms owing to the prevailing pandemic conditions. The FDP witnessed enthusiastic participation from 51 faculty members, faculty associates and research scholars across the country.

Faculty members from VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur, IMI Kolkata and Brainware University conducted classes for the sessions. The FDP aimed to provide an overview of the importance of multivariate analysis in research, for publication in top-tier journals. The sessions aimed to demonstrate the application of various research methods with ample case exercises for mastering the key concepts for usage in journal articles. The sessions focused on exposure to advanced multivariate analysis and practice with datasets, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), application of regression (linear regression and logistic regression), factor analysis, conjoint analysis, cluster analysis, research case exercises etc. along with lecture sessions by renowned faculty members.

Speaking of faculty mentors, Dr. Gobinda Roy, Assistant Professor, Marketing, IMI Kolkata co-ordinated the FDP. Having completed his PhD/MBA from VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur he has over 20 years of experience in industry, research and teaching. He guided the participants on overview of multivariate analysis in research, application of regression (linear regression and logistic regression) and factor analysis.

Dr. Biplab Dutta, Associate Professor (Marketing), VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur was a faculty mentor from the programme.  Dr. Datta specializes in Architecture, ProjectManagement, Marketing Management, and Service Quality Management.He guided the participants with concepts on conjoint analysis and cluster analysis.

Dr. Srabanti Mukherjee, Assistant Professor (Marketing) from VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur, was also a faculty mentor for the FDP.  Her sessions focused on confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structured equation modelling.

Dr. Rajarshi Debanath, Assistant Professor, Brainware University also conducted intuitive and perceptive sessions for the participants. Having completed his PhD/MBA from VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur, he specializes in Digital & Socia lMedia Marketing; Services Marketing and others. He guided the participants on process macro with mediation and moderation

The four day FDP saw participation from different academic profiles like faculties (50%), research scholars (41.17%), and MBA students and others (8.83%) from various reputed education institutions like IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, University of Calcutta, Anna University, Symbiosis Pune, and XIM University, etc. Most of their feedback also asked to conduct such further sessions on Research Methodology and appreciated the sessions conducted.
