About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxIMIKolkata, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxIMIKolkata event, live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
The Speakers
TEDx IMIKolkata will witness the presence of enthusiastic speakers sparking conversation across multidisciplinary topics catering to a blend of corporate and academic communities. Each speaker will be delivering an 18-minute talk followed by a networking session for facilitating conversation.
Ms. Yogini Bapat, Environmentalist
Topic :- “Climate Crisis: Am I responsible for it”
Ms. Yogini Bapat is an active environmentalist. She is the Director at YU Technologies Pvt Ltd, the Founder of BE-Live Envirotech, and also the Co-founder of Parivartan Organization. She is also a member of Bioenzyme Entrepreneur Academy of India, the State Executive Committee member of Vivekananda Vidya Vikas Parishad, a Member of Gram Samriddhi Foundation, the Vice President of WICCI West Bengal Bioenzyme Council.
Mr. Aparup Roy, Young Scholar
Topic :- “Breaking It Down: Strategies to Address Each Pillar of the Climate Crisis”
At a very young age, Mr. Aparup Roy has already published three research papers in Chemistry and authoring five books spanning various disciplines. His inventive spirit is evident in the creation of a revolutionary bio-plastic aimed at mitigating environmental plastic pollution. Additionally, Aparup has formulated an herbal mosquito repellent, showcasing his commitment to sustainable solutions.
Mr. Aravind Voruganti, Blockchain Influencer

Mr. Voruganti Aravind, a pioneering blockchain leader with over 11 years of industry experience. Dr. Jyotirmoy Roy, Green Entrepreneur
Topic:- “Creating A Better World In A Changing Climate”
Dr. Jyotirmoy (Jyoti) is the founder of GreenEnco Ltd. He is an advisor to some key energy organisations in the UK & and India and an expert in solar energy & and energy storage projects. He has supported the preparation of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) in 2009. He has supported over 20 GW of solar PV and energy storage projects in the last 18 years in EMEA, Asia, and the USA. He is a co-author of the UK solar standard – the IET Code of Practice for the Design, Installation, and Operation of Solar Photovoltaic Systems, and a committee member of the IEC and BSI standards.
Ms. Padmashree Balaram, Environmentalist
Topic :- “Empowering oneself to be a civic issues leader”
Ms. Padmashree Balaram, is a Self-driven person with a sustained passion in creating social and environmental impact. She has conducted almost 1000 workshops on segregation, sustainable menstruation, and decentralization at schools, apartment complexes, health departments of various municipalities, and Police quarters. She was instrumental in installing 100 leaf composters on the lanes of Koramangala whose compost is being used by the community around it. She was recently selected to be in the Honourees circle of 58 over 58 for Social Impact. Vijay Karnataka named her a VK Hero, Ex CM Sri Yediyurappa felicitated her as a Clean city warrior. “Just do it” is her mantra.
Ms. Shail Bala Tripathy, Legal Technologist
Topic :- “Beyond Greenwashing: Navigating the legal, tech, and sustainable landscapes for impact-based innovation.”
Ms. Shail Bala Tripathy is a tech-savvy legal professional who prefers to be called a “Legal Technologist” who embarked on the frontier where artificial intelligence, data analysis, design, sustainability, and law converge. Currently, she serves as the Co-founder and Managing Partner of a law firm headquartered in Kolkata, specializing in IP, technology, commercial, and media entertainment laws. In 2020, Shail orchestrated impactful pro bono campaigns aligning with WIPO GREEN’s mission of “Innovate for a Green Future.” Simultaneously, she spearheaded initiatives highlighting sustainable businesses contributing to positive environmental change.
