Mr Rakesh Sethi Chairman& Managing Director Allahabad Bank inaugurated the Workshop at IMI Kolkata Campus. Mr Debashish Sarkar CVO Allahabad Bank and General Secretary Vigilance Study Circle Kolkata gave the welcome address and touched upon the nuances of Vigilance. While quoting Kautilya, Mr Rakesh Sethi also reiterated the fact that, no innocent person should be punished in effectively delivering vigilance. Preventive vigilance is more important than punitive vigilance.
Dr Arindam Banik, Director IMI Kolkata welcomed the dignitaries and addressed the issue of Vigilance in Emerging Economies. Dr Banik spoke about Frauds in Credit Cards and Commodity Exchanges, that is rampant in today’s fast growing economies. It’s a huge challenge managing growth with prudence. The role of Vigilance is more of compliance then prevention, Dr Banik reiterated.
The three day programme would see experts from the field like, Mr V Ramachandran, Former CTE and Director General DRSO, Mr P Sharath Kumar, Mr P C Ojha, Vice President Vigilance, Balmer Lawrie Ltd, Mr Sukamal Chandra Basu, Former CMD Bank of Maharashtra, Mr Sujit Ghosh, former Jt- Director, CBI and many more.
The workshop is attended by CVOs and very senior officers from Vigilance Department of Public Sector Organization .
The huge response has encouraged IMI and the vigilance study circle in going ahead with advanced programmes of Vigilance.
