January 14, 2023 brought in a wave of memories and reminiscence as the Institute welcomed back its alumni through the years, for a glorious National Alumni Meet 2022-23. The 9th season of NAM witnessed the presence of some of the most eminent alumni of IMI Kolkata.
Starting with the welcome speeches by Professor Mohua Banerjee, Director, IMI Kolkata, Mr. Subhasis Mitra, Group Company Secretary, RPSG Group and IMI Kolkata’s Governing Body Member and Dr. Sachin Modgil, Chairperson (Alumni Relations), IMI Kolkata, heartfelt addresses were made by Professor Rachana Chattopadhyay, Dean (Academics) and Mr. Amit Ghosh, Head – Executive Education, Career Services & Alumni Relations, IMI. In the words of Mr. Subhasis Mitra, “The credit for the steady progress of IMI Kolkata goes to its wonderful alumni. As you progress in your career and life, there are four very important things to take care of: health, personality, family life and friends.”
Soon after, the evening fused into a trip down memory lane with addressals by Mr. Ankit Kohli (PGDM 2012-14), Associate Vice President, Paytm; Mr. Piyush Pagaria (PGDM 2014-16), Customer Success Manager, Floatbot; Mr. Bodhisattwa Sarkar (PGDM 2019-21), Functional Consultant, Accenture and Ms. Divya Gulgulia (PGDM 2018-20), Shree Laxmi and Jaslok Industries. The alumni members talked about their experiences of life at IMI Kolkata and the huge part played by the institute in shaping them as individuals and their careers.
Some of the distinguished alumni of IMI Kolkata were felicitated with prestigious alumni awards, namely:
Star Alumnus for Corporate Excellence: Mr. Ankit Kohli (PGDM 2012-14), Associate Vice President, Paytm; and Ms. Neha Khandelwal (PGDM 2016-18), People Program Specialist, Accenture.
Star Alumnus for Institution-Building Activities: Mr. Sombuddha Banerjee (PGDM 2016-18), Executive, CESC Limited.
Rising Star Alumnus: Mr. Harsh Bansal (PGDM 2019-21), SAP Functional Analyst, Deloitte
Star Alumnus for Entrepreneurial Excellence: Ms. Pooja Agarwal Saria (PGDM 2015-17), Founder & CEO, Artsty
The ceremony also witnessed the launch of IMIKins, the annual alumni magazine of IMI Kolkata. The theme for Confero 11.0, the annual cultural, management and sports fest of IMI Kolkata was also revealed at NAM 2023, “Samsaara: Burn to Emerge’.
This was followed by an enthralling panel discussion on “Transition from Campus Life to Corporate Life” by the panelists: Mr. Anupam Bhattacharya (PGDM 2013-15), Sales Planning Manager, Tata Steel; Mr. Varun Rathi (PGDM 2015-17), Manager, Rishika Enterprises and Ms. Alisha Sheikh (PGDM 2019-21), Relationship Manager, ICICI Bank, moderated by Mr. Srikishan Singh (PGDM 2014-16), Associate 2, PwC SDC Kolkata. “Change is the only constant. In the 7 years of experience I have, I have lived this sentence every second of my life”, claimed Mr. Srikishan Singh. Mr. Anupam Bhattacharya went on to add, “One thing you miss the most in your corporate life is your teachers. This is probably the last time you’d be students, so make the most mistakes and learn from them”. Ms. Alisha Sheikh shared her experiences by mentioning the journey she has gone through and how IMI Kolkata taught her everything required to survive in the corporate world. Mr. Varun Rathi mentioned his experiences at IMI Kolkata and his hesitancy in moving into corporate life.
The evening was brought to a close by some electrifying performances by the students of IMI Kolkata and a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sachin Modgil.
