Driving alumni engagement as a key priority, subsequent to the Fifth National Alumni Meet (NAM) that was held on December 8, 2018 in campus, IMI Kolkata had set upon conducting the Regional Chapter Meets (RCM). With 345 alumni members spread pan-India, the RCM locations were selected based on the number of alumni present in a city. Two cities – Bengaluru and Hyderabad were newly added to the previous list of Mumbai and Delhi as venues for the RCM.
To ensure good turnouts, Saturdays were inevitably chosen for the Meets across the cities. The Mumbai Chapter Meet was conducted on 2nd February, 2019 at Hotel Bawa International. The following week, on 9th February, IMI Kolkata Alumni Body established its footprint in the city of Bengaluru. Despite the inclement weather caused by heavy thundershowers, it was a splendid evening at the Hotel Monarch Luxur that was the venue for the meet. In quick succession the Hyderabad Chapter Meet, which was another first, was conducted on 2nd March at The Fortune Park Vallabha, in Banjara Hills. Within a fortnight, the final RCM was organized in Delhi atKylin Premiere in Ambience Mall.
Professor Arindam Banik, Director, and the team comprising Professor Mohua Banerjee (Dean – Alumni Relations) along with faculty members who were travelling to the cities for other admission-related work, the Alumni Relations administrative team members, and a student representative, brought forth the essence of IMI Kolkata in each of the venues. In a semi-formal setting, Professor Banikdelivered the welcome address and the alumni got to hear about the short-term and the long-term blueprint for the Institute from the Director. Through the interactions the Professors shared details about the current progress of IMI Kolkata. The alumni members shared their experiences, provided insights from the industry and gave suggestions on curriculum design in line with changing needs of the industry, whilealso engaging in conversations on contributing back to IMI Kolkata through alumni-student mentor-mentee relationships, training their juniors on campus and ultimately driving the brand IMIK to newer heights.
